Omnibot 2000! Only in the Wow Toy Museum

I had the good fortune to go with Janette Toral to the Wow Toy Museum deep in the heart of QC. Saw a lot of great toys, which makes it such a shame that I only have terrible photos to show for it. This toy museum was made famous for appearances in GMA and ABS-CBN, and is comprised of toys owned by the proprietor Jimmy Madarang and his brothers when they were kids, as well as finds from thrift stores, Ebay, and donations. Jimmy bought many of these toys broken and restored them himself.

This was the Tomy Omnibot 2000, a personal assistant robot of the 80s. You could program Tomy to fetch you drinks and folow more complicated commands. He even has a casette deck, to play music and presumably programs. Unfortunately, as you see here, he’s all covered in casing to protect from the elements and I didn’t recognize this then to as the owner to demo it.

If I get the chance to return, I’ll ask Jimmy if this still works, and more importantly, if it’s for sale :D.
