(C)omparisons (of Wave) to Facebook and Twitter are nonsensical. If Twitter were CNN Headline News, Google Wave would be Microsoft Office.

Paul Buchheit: So I finally tried Wave… (via pegobry)

True as Google Wave feels more like a scrapbook / project collaboration tool (at least for me).

I first saw this video, Memories of the Forgotten War, at the Deleted Scenes exhibit found in Lopez Museum as part of my Zero In museum visits last November 17.

Glad to have found it on YouTube although the last part is not yet posted as of this writing. Here is the info stated on the site:

In the decade following the Spanish-American War, more Filipinos were killed by US troops than by the Spanish during the 300 years of colonial rule. More than 1 million Filipinos died between 1899 and 1913. This experimental documentary about the Philippine American War of 1899 combines archival photographs and turn of the century film, digital video and 16mm footage to create memories of a forgotten history. A contemporary Filipina-American narrator weaves this complex history through historiography, experimental documentary and intercultural cinema. Shot on location in the Philippines and edited in the US, the film was produced by an international team of Filipino and American media artists.

Upcoming Filipino music talent showcased on MTV Emerge

chercabula:

The Philippines has great untapped music talent and with that being said, MTV Emerge is an online hub through MTV, Jeepney Music and Department of Tourism collaboration that aims to showcase these great potentials and provide for them an interactive playground of sorts where they can create their own profiles and upload tracks of their music.

As of now, aspiring artists have already uploaded their latest works on the site. Visitors are encouraged to vote for the artist that they like. The lucky winners will be chosen on November 20 by a panel of distinguished judges including Apl de Ap of the Black Eyed Peas. Winners will enjoy a contract and a mentorship program under Apl de Ap with his record label Jeepney Music. The contract encompasses the promotion and digital distribution of 3 to 6 songs and a marketing plan to help the signed artists be know in the local and international markets. In addition to this, winners will also be featured at the showcase event on November 27.

Jeepney Music was a record label founded by Apl de Ap which also hosts an online Jeepney community where users can talk about various topics on music, gossip, travel and rich excerpts of living histories from the Philippines. MTV Emerge is also supported by the Department of Tourism (DOT), which currently promotes all the amazing Philippine destinations the rich culture of the Filipino people.

After browsing through the site, I have chosen to vote for the Good Morning High Fives - Let it Go. The ballad was really good and the lyrics were very well written. They are currently ranking very high on the votes but they could always use a few more. Show your support and cast your vote on these upcoming artists too!
