On November 22, we are having an online One Internet Day event to help encourage support to families in the Philippines affected by typhoon Haiyan / Yolanda. We encourage our friends in the international community to share their expertise on this day and donate for a good cause.
When Anderson Cooper guested on the Late Night Show with #DavidLetterman, these are the few things he said:
1)Nobody had food, nobody had water
2)People died, people died of broken legs that got infected
3)it is an honor to be there, to be able to give voice to people who don’t have a voice, who don’t have access to power
4)The strength of people is extraordinary

What Makes Triton Different?
Triton Dragon Boat Racing Team is under the Philippine Dragonboat Federation along with the other local club crews in Manila. Mr. Aniceto Fontanilla, team’s president, better known as “Sir Nick” to his friends and colleagues shares some insights regarding the team.
There are the three key ideas that Sir Nick provided. First, Triton is a team that is internally composed of different teams and networks – He stresses that the team welcomes other groups and association to network with the team. Some of them include the Philippine Air Force (PAF), Team Titans (a team of running enthusiasts), FITFIL & METAFIT (local fitness group that focuses on circuit training) and Adamson University (university in Manila). “We do not ask them to dismantle their principles as a team … we want to come together as one based on certain principles of dragonboating” he says.
Second, Triton has a social responsibility to National Athletes – what sets apart the team from others is the social responsibility the team has for future National Athletes or ex-national athletes. Support includes allowances, basic needs and different forms of support possible - this is what the team considers as an important mission.
And lastly, Triton is not just a team; it is a community. The paddlers come from different backgrounds with different professions yet share the common interest of the sport.
He also says that in this federation, every team would definitely want to be different from each other. Though all the teams are united under the federation through objectives, passion, and commitments - it is a matter of how the team marks society and makes a difference. As sir Nick puts it: “…we want to make ourselves [Triton] different even if we are all the same and all united”. Sir Nick urges you to join and try dragon boating, share the experiences the paddlers have and be a part of Triton Dragon Boat Racing Team.
Triton Trainings : Saturday and Sunday 6:30 am ‘til 9:00 am, Wednesday and Friday 4:45 am ‘til 6:00 am at the North Parking of Manila Ocean Park.
